Multiple personality disorder (MPD) or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)

What is MPD or DID?

MPD or DID is defined as a condition in which "two or more distinct identities or personality states" alternate in controlling the patient's consciousness and behavior. Note: "Split personality" is not an accurate term for DID and should not be used as a synonym for schizophrenia.

What are the causes of MPD or DID?

• An innate ability to dissociate easily
  
• Repeated episodes of severe physical or sexual abuse in childhood
  
• The lack of a supportive or comforting person to counteract abusive relative(s)
  
• The influence of other relatives with dissociative symptoms or disorders

What are the symptoms of MPD or DID?

• Amnesia - Gaps in the patient's memory for long periods of their past, in some cases, their entire childhood.
  
• Depersonalization - the patient feels that his or her body is unreal, is changing, or is dissolving.
  
• Derealization - the patient perceives the external environment as unreal. Patients may see walls, buildings, or other objects as changing in shape, size, or color.
  

I got interested in MPD because of a book I am currently reading. It's title is The Minds of Billy Milligan and it is by Daniel Keyes. It's a about a man with 23 personalities. woohooo xD

well,i have a more violent and twisted personality too,but only comes up when im threatened. if i attack someone els tho,it wont turn on. its a natural self deffence mechanism that prty much makes me go naturally berserk

i think i have another personality... and it hates me more than i do. and thats A LOT!

.-. is that possible? and it could be purp,but it wont stop for prty much the rest of the day,untill i sleep and go into a uncocnious state. the next morning im back to normal
